It's About Time - introduction to artist Julie Russell, her original acrylic landscapes and her blog

It’s taken almost a year to get it built and launched, and required a spare day added to the calendar, but I finally have my own art website and blog. Now I’ll have to try to keep it up. Like the cobbler’s kids with no shoes, the last projects we get to are our own!

I’m going to try to focus on my art, the art that surrounds me here in Oceanside, and my personal journey as an artist, though I may go off on the odd tangent. I’ll try to post new work, works in progress and events in the Parksville-Qualicum Beach art world.

I’ve even come out of my shell enough to join the Oceanside Community Arts Council based at the MacMillan Arts Centre (MAC) here in Parksville and just a short walk up my street. I have no excuse to not be involved and participating. As a matter of fact I have submitted three pieces to “End of the Dark”, the spring members show, which is opening this week. The reception is 7-9 Friday evening, March 2, and is open to the public. Come on out and see what we’ve been doing this winter and how we are greeting spring!

Today I’m grateful for the sun shining, this wonderful passion and the opportunity to contribute to the local art community by volunteering at “The MAC” for the first time.
